Galleries / Domestic Animals / Dogs
Several of my dog portraits have been featured in national
magazines, including both the Shooting Times and Sporting Gun. Here are
a few examples of dog portraits I have been commissioned to produce from
owners' photographs, which include both gun dog portraits and family pets.
I will also consider undertaking full-body paintings of animals in a natural
setting - please contact me with any questions
or ideas you may have. See below the gallery for further
information on Commissioning Portraits.

Commissioning Portraits
All animals have a character and individuality of their own, and so it is
important when I receive any commission to provide a portrait that the customer is looking for.
If you are happy to provide me with reference photographs, it is important to provide me with
good quality reference material to work from. The best photographs are those taken outdoors in
natural light, in order to depict the animal's true colours. The more photographs I have, the
easier it is to depict the individual animal's character.
Once I have received a selection of photographs from which to work, I then set out to produce a sketch, which is sent to the customer for approval. Once the customer is happy with the initial drawing, I can begin the final artwork. Once completed to my satisfaction, I will usually send the image via email for final approval. Once any minor amendments are made (if required), the final artwork is then posted.
The dog portraits I produce are normally painted in acrylic on paper, at approx 11in x 9 in and are £275 inc delivery (UK). This figure is based on the customer providing me with adequate reference material to work from. This figure does not include framing, which I would be happy to organise at an extra cost.
If you are confident using a camera and would prefer me to meet you and your dog to take my own photographs from which to work, this is of course possible, and involves a small extra charge to cover travel expenses, based on 20p per mile, from PR7 5SU.
